Public Information Session: Village Zoning Draft Introduced

October 1, 2021

The Village Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 6:00 pm to present the draft of the new Village zoning code. Monica Ryan of River Street Planning & Development LLC will provide an overview of the draft to the community, highlighting key changes. Copies of the draft zoning law will be made available on the Village’s website following the meeting.

Following the adoption of a new Comprehensive Plan, the Village engaged River Street Planning & Development, a consulting firm with experience updating land management codes, to work with representatives of the Village Planning and Zoning Boards, staff, and officials to develop a comprehensive revision of the Village’s zoning law that reflects the goals and recommendations in the Comprehensive Plan. The revision includes an update of the Village’s zoning districts, zoning map, and land use and site development standards. The draft reflects modern zoning tools that create opportunities for desired development and sustainability and protect and enhance community character, quality of life, and valuable historic and natural resources, and establish a clear process for project review. This update also includes changes to sign and subdivision regulations consistent with the new zoning law.

The Village Board wishes to provide members of the public with the opportunity to consider the new zoning law and to raise questions and offer suggestions for preparation of the final draft documents. The meeting will be held by Zoom – link information is here.
