Halloween in Canton

October 23, 2020

Based on guidance from the State and the County health departments, and in consultation with Canton Central School, to protect ourselves and one another and have a safe and happy Halloween, please follow these simple guidelines:

IF YOU ARE TRICK OR TREATING, PLEASE:

➢ Trick or treat with household members only – avoid large groups.

➢ Maintain social distancing.

➢ Wear a protective mask – the CDC does not recommend a costume mask over a protective mask. It may make breathing difficult.

➢ Use hand-sanitizer regularly as you walk through the Village.

➢ Do not go on porches or in small spaces. Anyone who wishes to pass out candy should be at the end of their driveway or sidewalk. If no one is at the end of a driveway or sidewalk, simply go to the next one.

IF YOU ARE PASSING OUT TREATS, PLEASE:

➢ Pass out candy from the end of your driveway or sidewalk. No one should be coming to your door.

➢ Maintain a safe, six-foot distance.

➢ Place a table or divider between you and the trick or treaters.

➢ Do not leave a bowl of treats for trick or treaters to reach into.

➢ Wear a mask while passing out treats.

➢ Wash/sanitize your hands often.

➢ If possible, mark your sidewalk in 6-foot spaces as a reminder about social distancing.
