Canton Rec Announces Beach Plans, Seeks Lifeguards and Swim Instructors

The Canton Recreation Department is gearing up for the summer season, with these exciting announcements:

Taylor Park Beach will open Memorial Day weekend – Saturday, May 29, to Monday, May 31. The beach will be open weekends in June, then full time beginning Monday, June 28. Beach hours for the summer will be Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 

Swimming Lessons for all levels will be offered at the Canton Central School pool during the month of July, between 8 and 11 a.m (pursuant to state and local COVID guidance). 

The Recreation Department welcomes applications for lifeguards and swim instructors. Lifeguards must be at least 16 years old and require Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Waterfront certification; swimming instructors require Basic Swim Instructor (BSI) and/or Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification. Applications are available here and at the Village Clerk’s office in the Canton Municipal Building at 60 Main Street.
