The Village of Canton seeks a Recreation Leader to serve as Beach Director at Taylor Park for summer 2021. The Beach Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of waterfront operations and for training, scheduling, and overseeing the lifeguards. Successful applicant must be a Red Cross certified lifeguard; additional required certifications include Lifeguard Instructor, CPR, and First Aid Instructor. Familiarity with NYS Department of Health and other safety requirements and regulations a plus. Applicants must be 21 years of age; a bachelor’s degree in physical education and PE certification preferred; graduation from a NYS registered or regionally accredited college or university with an associate’s degree required. The Swimming Lessons Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of swimming lessons, including scheduling and overseeing instructors, scheduling lessons, assessing appropriate skill level for children, coordinating registration, and acting as liaison to parents. Successful applicants must be Red Cross certified lifeguards; additional required certifications include WSI, CPR, and First Aid. Applicants must be 21 years of age; a bachelor’s degree in physical education and PE certification preferred; graduation from a NYS registered or regionally accredited college or university with an associate’s degree required.
