NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Canton will hold a Public Hearing before its regular Board Meeting on October 14th, 2021, at 5:45 PM for the purpose of considering a local law to override the limit on the amount of real property taxes that may be levied by the Town of Canton, County of St. Lawrence pursuant to General Municipal Law 3-c, and to allow the Town of Canton, County of St. Lawrence to adopt a town budget for (a) town purposes, (b) fire protection districts and (c) any other special or improvement district governed by the Town Board for the fiscal year 2022 that requires a real property tax levy in excess of the “tax levy limit” as defined by General Municipal Law 3-c. A copy of the proposed local law is available for public inspection on the Town of Canton’s website at this link, and in the office of the Town Clerk.
Both this public hearing and the following Town Board meeting will be conducted by use of Zoom video-conference. The public is invited to comment during the public hearing, and to view or listen to the meeting by any of the following means:
