NOTICE TO BIDDERS
Sealed bids for the Town of Canton – Miner Street Grading/Drainage will be received until 11:00am Thursday, 8
June 2023 by the Town of Canton, Attention: Steven Smith, Highway Superintendent, 60 Main St, Canton NY 13617,
at which place and time the bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Proposals received after that time will not be
accepted.

A single lump sum bid is required. Sealed bids shall be marked with the bidder’s name and ‘Town of Canton Miner
St Grading/Drainage’.

No Pre-Bid walk thru is scheduled. Bidders should visit the site and be familiar with site conditions prior to bidding.
Electronic Copies of the Bidding and Contract Documents will be available beginning 17 May 2023 from the architect
at Brooks Washburn Architecture, DPC, 22 Depot Street Suite 16, Potsdam, NY 13676. Hard copies of the
documents may be obtained, at the bidder’s expense, from Syracuse Blueprint, 825 East Genesee St., Syracuse, NY,
(315-476-4084).

All bids must be written in ink on the forms provided. Selected bidder will be required to provide separate
Performance Bond and Labor and Materials Bond each equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract Amount,
obtained from Surety Companies with a Best Rating of A (excellent or better).

Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirements as to conditions of employment to be observed and
minimum wage rates to be paid under the Contract. The successful bidder will be required to comply with all
applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. The Town of Canton is an Equal Opportunity employer and

Attention of bidders is called to the tax exempt status of the Town of Canton. Bids should not include sales and
compensating use tax on the cost of materials which are to be incorporated into the structure.
Bidders are encouraged to satisfy applicable MWBE requirements, including an MBE goal of 15% and a WBE goal of
15% for the work.

The Town of Canton reserves the right to consider all bids for a period of not to exceed forty-five (45) days following
the bid opening before awarding the Contract, during which period bids shall not be withdrawn, and reserves the right
to reject any or all bids, to waive any informality in the bids, and to award the Contract in the Owner’s best interest.
Substantial Completion shall be no later than 15 November 2023. A penalty of two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00)
per day may be assessed for late substantial completion.
