Judson Street Traffic Study Begins Wednesday

June 11, 2019

The Health Initiative has initiated a project looking at the safety of North Country roads and sidewalks. Working with Canton’s Complete Streets Committee and Clarkson University, an assessment will be conducted of Judson Street’s pedestrian and transportation patterns and infrastructure.

From Wednesday, June 12, through Friday, June 14, Clarkson students will be recording the number of people using Judson Street’s roads and sidewalks. They will be there from 7 AM to 6 PM. All student workers involved in the project will be wearing high-visibility vests and IDs.

Clarkson students will also be surveying along Judson Street, which will involve minimal traffic control. Scheduling is weather dependent, but is not expected to take more than five days from now through mid-July.

Students may conduct a short door-to-door survey with residents to assess the community’s thoughts and concerns on the safety and walkability of Judson Street. They may also desire to do a deliberate session with some residents along Judson Street.

More details about scheduling will be posted at www.cantonny.gov as they are available.
