PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Village and Town of Boards of Canton will hold a joint meeting on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 6:00pm.
Prior to the meeting, the Village and Canton Boards will hold a public hearing commencing at 6pm for the purpose of hearing public comments on the Town and Village of Canton’s community development needs, and to discuss the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for the 2021 program year. The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR), and will make available to eligible local governments approximately $60 million for the 2021 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefiting low/moderate income persons. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or to provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended. The public hearings will be conducted by use of Zoom video-conference, as authorized by Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.15 and subsequent extensions including Executive Order 202.101. The public is invited to view or listen to the public hearing, and to comment during same, by any of the following means:

Public comments may also be submitted via email addressed to Mayor Michael Dalton at [email protected] or by regular mail addressed to the Mayor at 60 Main Street, Canton, New York 13617, to be received by 4:00pm on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, which will be made part of the record of the public hearing.
