The St. Lawrence County Seat

Priest Field

UNDER CONSTRUCTION: The tennis/pickleball courts will be closed for a portion of time during the spring and summer of 2022 for resurfacing

Nestled amongst the trees in Downtown Canton (behind the County Social Services Building – 8 Judson Street), Priest Field is a peaceful retreat to enjoy your lunch, catch an action-packed pickleball match, or play lawn games with your family and friends. If you’re looking for some good food, stop on by the concession stand! You’ll find all sorts of goodies to munch on, from hot dogs to nachos. So come on down and enjoy a day at Priest Field!

The park features an open green space for free play as well as two tennis courts and four pickleball courts.

Priest Field is considered the birthplace of pickleball in the North Country after Canton Native, Mary Ann Axtell, learned the game while in Florida and shared the game with our community upon her return. You can join the pickleball fun every Tuesday and Thursday night (weather permitting) at 6pm, all skill levels are warmly welcomed!

Reservations

The rental of the courts and green space is free of charge, but reservations are recommended to avoid two events happening simultaneously. There is an extra fee if a tent or inflatable is erected for a special event ($10 per tent and/or inflatable).
