CANTON LOOKING FOR REVIEW COMMITTEE MEMBERS FOR SMALL BUSINESS GRANT PROGRAM

Committee Interest Form Link

December 12, 2022

The Village of Canton has created the Canton CARES Small Business Grant Program to help businesses recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is funded by an award of $500,000 from the Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CDBG CARES) Program.  In order to efficiently and equitably assist businesses in need, the Village must convene a committee to evaluate applications to the program.

We are looking for four individuals who represent the diversity of our community to serve on the review committee. Committee members should reside, own a business, or be employed in the Village of Canton. Committee members will not be eligible to apply for funding.

An application period for small businesses will be announced in the near future. Applicants will be required to show how COVID-19 has negatively impacted their business, demonstrate economic hardship, and meet a national objective of either being a low-moderate income business owner, or creating or retaining jobs for persons of low-moderate income. Costs dating back to March 15, 2020 will be eligible for reimbursement.

If you are interested in participating as a member of the review committee, please go to this link and complete the brief form. You can also contact Leigh Rodriguez at the Canton Office of Community Economic Development at (315) 386-2871 #5, or [email protected] for more information.
