Canton To Fly Pride Flag Thursday and Friday

At the joint Canton Town and Village meeting on June 10,2019, both boards unanimously approved a resolution recognizing June as LGBTQ Pride month. The resolution included a commitment to raise a rainbow flag over the municipal building.
The rainbow flag, a popular symbol of the gay community and the gay rights movement, will be raised Thursday, June 27, and flown that day and on Friday, June 28, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising, a turning point in the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ human rights
The public is welcome to the flag raising on Thursday morning at 8:30 in front of the municipal building at 60 Main Street in Canton.
