Canton Rec Announces Public Skating Opportunities

February 12, 2021

The Canton Village and Town Joint Recreation Committee has announced that the Recreation Pavilion is now offering several public skating opportunities. Public skating will be open to a limited number of skaters and is subject to strict COVID precautions and protocols, including masks required at all times, physical distancing, no locker room use, and no food or drinks. Complete guidelines and rules should be reviewed before skating.

The schedule, beginning Saturday, February 13, is:

  • Public skating Saturday evenings from 6 to 6:45 p.m. and 7 to 7:45 p.m.
  • Adult skating Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 2:45 p.m., open to skaters 21 years of age and over.
  • Special school break daytime public skate (Monday, February 15 to Friday, February 19) Monday through Friday 12 to 12:45 p.m. and 1 to 1:45 p.m. plus Monday, Wednesday and Friday 2 to 2:45 p.m.

Capacity is limited to 30 people and advanced sign-ups are required by calling the Recreation Department at (315) 386-3992 between 3 and 8 p.m. If there is no answer, please leave a message including a call-back number. All skaters 12 and under must wear a helmet, and must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Everyone entering the Pavilion will be required to undergo a COVID health screening and sign a risk and liability waiver. Those documents will be available at the rink, but to avoid crowding at the door they can be downloaded from the Canton website (link above) and completed before arriving.

The Pavilion schedule is subject to change. With everyone’s cooperation and compliance with the publicized rules, we hope to make skating an option for as many Canton skaters as possible.
