Canton Community Action Plan

The Economic Development Steering Committee –comprising representatives from the Village and Town Boards, the Economic and Community Development offices, the local universities and schools, and the Canton business community– is charged with crafting and overseeing implementation of Canton’s five-year community action plans.   In 2015, the committee worked under the direction of former EDSC member Kathy Mullaney, to build on previous plans to create the plan that will guide the Village and Town of Canton for the next five years.

The EDSC reviewed previous action plans, assessed progress made and action still needed, solicited input from community stakeholders, held two half-day retreats to construct a draft, and conducted four open session to gather community feedback.  The result is the 2015 Canton Community Action Plan, which will guide community, business, and municipal progress for the 2016-2021 five-year period.

Community stakeholders have been asked to provide information about their strategic plans for the next five years that will be incorporated into a general Community Action Matrix, which will be monitored by members of the EDSC and updated regularly.

The 2015 Canton Community Action Plan was enthusiastically approved and adopted by the Village Board on November 19, 2015. It was approved by the Town Board on December 14, 2015.
